This One Is Different

Every project that we do is unique, because every house and owner is different. We all have our tastes and preferences about how we decorate our homes. Some people keep it simple and choose 1 wall color with white ceilings and trim for the entire house. Some people like to be daring with a bold color here and there. Others let their sparkle shine. The latter is the story I am telling here.

I don't pretend to be an interior designer, and I don't judge. I have suggestions and opinions that I will be happy to share, but this is your house. I like things my way. You be you in your house. Every color is applied the same way. I will follow whatever plan you have, even this one as follows.

Every room in this house had its own color. All paints are from Sherwin-Williams. We used Primer 200 flat on the ceiling, Emerald matte on the walls, and Emerald satin on the trim.

Starting at the top floor, they used Gallery Green for their office/guest bedroom.

In the kid's room, they used Red Tomato. This saturated color took 3 coats to get right.

They chose Mythical for their primary bedroom. I forgot to take a photo before we painted it.

Things got a little complicated in the open spaces of the hallway, two level living room, dining room, and kitchen.

The hallway ceiling and interior walls were Poised Taupe, the long party wall and living room were Canyon Clay, the bookshelves and some trim were Tricorn Black.

The living room and dining room walls were Canyon Clay with Poised Taupe on the ceiling. Some of the trim was Canyon Clay with some Tricorn Black on the stair stringers and front windows.

The kitchen was Distance.

They chose Mineral Deposit for the only bathroom that we painted.

This look is not for everyone, but they pulled it off. It was a bit refreshing using all of these colors. I just hope I get the job when they move out and the new owners want to tone things down.
