THE PAINTING OF AN ENTIRE HOUSE #11

This is not just the 11th entire house we have painted. It is just the 11th time I remembered to document the work.

I received an email from a woman asking me to meet with her to discuss the painting of her house. She said it needed quite a bit of work, and inquired if I had experience with historic homes. I had previously worked in homes in homes with historic registrations, so we were able to meet. I understand the sensitivity of these kind of houses and the neighborhoods.

Unfortunately, the previous painters of this house did a sub-par job with the details, so we had our work cut out for us. Fortunately, the owner moved out and granted us full freedom to scrape the peeling walls and ceilings then thoroughly sand the woodwork.

It may be difficult to see the amount of prep work and the difference in color in these first photos.  I assure you that the ceiling and walls were the same color, there were small holes & cracks everywhere, and lots of trim.

Of all the rooms in the house, the kitchen was in the worst shape.  There was water damage on the ceiling and walls in the corner, wallpaper that needed to be removed, a hole in the window, broken glass, a small window vent that was painted shut, holes from cabinets that were removed, plus quite a bit of surface damage.  We fixed it all.

The house had a few built-in book cases that needed attention

The bathroom was also a mess.  The homeowner started removing the wallpaper, then we finished the job.

Four of us spent nine days working on this house.  It is projects like these that make me enjoy the work that we do.  We repaired and transformed the cosmetic appearance of this house to make it nice again.
